In the foreground is an air compressor. Two of these (with one spare) were needed to operate the fog horn (see Foghorn at Ardnamurchan).
In the background is a generator. Presumably this was used to charge the lamp batteries. See Machinery House, Ardnamurchan Lighthouse for another view of the engine room.)
