En 1887, une cloche de brume de 700kg a été accrochée a un poteau en bois entre le phare et la mer. Elle a été électrifiée en 1933 en même temps que le phare. Elle est la seule de son genre a être conservée dans son pays.
Fog bell on Odderøya Lighthouse
Compilation På lur i tåka : Historic recordings of the fog horn at Lindesnes lighthouse, Oksøy lighthouse, Store Torungen and fog at the Odderøya Lighthouse.
A fog bell is mounted on the front of the tower. The detached fog bell facility is the only one of its kind that is preserved in the country.
At the very entrance to the busy port of Kristiansand, a small lighthouse was established in 1832, the same year as Oksøy.In 1862 a modern lens was installed, and 12 years later a new building was erected a bit further up the hill, and a clockwork operated fog bell was mounted. In 1933 electricity was installed both for the light and the bell. In 1984 the lens was dismantled and installed on top of a glas fibre beacon in front of the old lighthouse.
