The detached fog bell facility is the only one of its kind that is preserved in the country. <br class='autobr' /> At the very entrance to the busy port of Kristiansand, a small lighthouse was established in 1832, the same year as Oksøy.In 1862 a modern lens was installed, and 12 years later a new building was erected a bit further up the hill, and a clockwork operated fog bell was mounted. In 1933 electricity was installed both for the light and the bell.
