Fog Signal Character : 2 Blasts Every 30 Seconds, the fog signal gave uniform sound radiation and had a range of 5 miles.

Royal Sovereign lighthouse at Eastbourne is a lighthouse marking the Royal Sovereign shoal. Its distinctive shape is easily recognised as it comprises a large platform supported by a single pillar rising out of the water.

In 1971, the lighthouse replaced a light vessel which protected the Royal Sovereign Shoal since 1875. Originally, the platform was manned, accommodation being contained in the 'cabin section', a practice which ceased in 1994 when the light was automated.

Automation is provided by Vodafone in the form of a 475MHz radio link to Trinity House.

Portland Bill - New Lighthouse - Diaphone

Ce phare est le plus récent de l'île, d'une hauteur de 35m, il a été construit en 1906.
Ici, le signal sonore du diaphone est d'une explosion de quatre secondes toutes les 30 secondes, avec une gamme de 2 miles nautiques. Le diaphone de type F a été désarmé en 1996, mais rétabli en 2003, où il se fait entendre chaque dimanche matin, comme attraction touristique de l'île. Sinon, il est utilisé qu'en cas de brouillard et seulement si le phare est hors service.

Portland Bill F-Type Diaphone Foghorn (1993), one blast every 30 Seconds

A fog signal for times of bad weather, the signal uses a four second blast every 30 seconds, with a range of 2 nautical miles. The Type F diaphone was decommissioned in 1996, but restored in 2003 for the benefit of visitors, where it is sounded every Sunday morning as an added attraction on the island but only used in foggy conditions if the lighthouse is out of operation [1]
